Nordic Living: Cosy Living Inspiration

The Nordic Living trend is on everyone's lips. Instagram, Pinterest and the like are a treasure trove when it comes to inspiration on the subject of Nordic furnishing. Many interior bloggers provide insights into their Scandinavian living style there. One of them is Melina Menz. On her Instagram profile "hejmelig", she takes her followers on journeys to the fascinating Nordic countries, shares her best hygge moments and impressively shows how you can bring Scandinavian culture into your own home. We took a closer look at Melina's Nordic Home and were able to elicit some interior design tips from her - for everyone who loves the Nordic style of living as much as she does.

At Home with Interior Blogger Melina

This is Melina Menz. The interior blogger lives with her fiancé and her two silly dachshunds Poldi and Frieda in the tranquil town of Landau, Germany. Melina is our number one source of inspiration when it comes to Nordic interior design. Her love for the Scandinavian interior style has grown with her travels to the Nordic countries, because she loves "elsewhere" just as much as at home.

On her holidays, Melina is not only taken with the breathtaking nature; her heart also beats for the many details of Scandinavian furnishings. She soaks up influences, for example, in cafés in the Norwegian Nordland or the typical Nordic hygge holiday homes right by the water. We get the feeling she goes there with a small suitcase and comes back with many large ones: packed to the top with hygge accessories, one or the other Scandinavian living magazine and stories about nature, the people and the culture of Scandinavia, about which she easily gets carried away.

First she WAS inspired - now she herself has become a source of inspiration for so many Nordic Living fans. She shares her enthusiasm for the Scandinavian living style daily on Instagram and on her blog. Every post is a little declaration of love for Scandinavia. Thankfully, we can all share how she decorates her beautiful Nordic-style home and take away ideas and inspiration for our own Nordic home.

What Makes up the Nordic Style of Living?

"Time and time again I am impressed by the stylistic confidence of the Scandinavians. They stay true to their line time and time again, creating a distinctive style."

But what is actually typically Scandinavian for Melina?

"For me, it's definitely design classics. Northerners love to invest in such design classics and have been doing so for much longer than the rest of us Europeans. The feeling of a cosy and beautifully furnished home with design classics has only recently spilled over to us, and the Scandinavians show us perfectly! A beautiful and atmospheric lamp or even a familiar chair cannot be missing in a Scandinavian home."

Her three favourite pieces from the flat are the old sideboard, an heirloom from her mum that currently takes up space in her bedroom, the black AJ table lamp by Louis Poulsen and her four CH24 chairs by Carl Hansen.

Anyone who gets lost in Melina's Instagram profile will quickly realise how important the right lighting is to her in her home. Every room has several light sources - all in a coherent Nordic style. Melina reveals to us: she also developed her weakness for Scandinavian lights during her holidays in the far north.

"With the Scandinavians, small light sources that are distributed throughout the flat are not to be missed. Because indirect and coherent light sources contribute incredibly to making you feel even more comfortable and homely."

If you take a little room tour with Melina, you will find many typical Nordic lamps from our online shop, all of which are made for a Scandinavian-inspired interior style, for example
